Ringing in the New Year…4 hours Early!

happy new yearDo you want to celebrate New Year’s Eve with your children at a reasonable hour and still go to bed early?

Let me share you our new tradition… Last year, we celebrated the New Year at 8pm.

We didn’t ruin New Year’s Day by making our children stay up till midnight. They woke up refreshed and excited just like any other day. They weren’t tired or grouchy.

How did we do this you ask…fairy dust and unicorn tears?

Nope.

Good old-fashioned American (murican) ingenuity. I found an extended YouTube clip of the London New Year’s Eve celebration and watched it with my children. It had amazing fireworks over the Thames River, beautiful scenery with a lit up Big Ben, and an awesome countdown.

You can also use this clip from Sydney this year. http://youtu.be/o0FYceQuwhs

Or… you can wait until after the London New Year at 6pm EST and find a clip from it. You can also choose Tokyo, Kuala Lampur, or Abu Dhabi. If you have an AppleTV, or similar device, you can put the clip right on the Television.

Try it this year, you will thank me for it, it is wonderful. The best part is once your children are in bed, you can enjoy the actual New York ball drop sitting snuggled on your couch with a loved one, and you don’t have to worry about cranky, fighting, or yelling children.

Hope you enjoy your New Year’s Eve celebration as much as we do.

Happy New Year.
