Here is an excerpt from my book The Last Waveson: Grafting. I was able to get my version of the german word Backpfeifengezicht in my book. Yay!
While he observed the guards, something struck Avo in the back of his shoulder. Perci pushed him as he brushed by. After a few steps, Perci turned and shot a smug self-righteous smirk back at Avo. Avo sneered. Blood dripped from his nose as he watched Perci depart. He was thankful that Perci’s curly brown hair and light brown eyes resembled his father and looked nothing like Nydia.
“This isn’t over,” Avo murmured under his breath.
“Hold your tongue,” Jessup whispered into his ear. He grabbed Avo’s shoulder to calm him. “Not today, it’s not worth it.”
“I’ll take care of that backheifen,” Avo said clenching his hand.
“Let him take his muddy attitude out of here, and then we’ll go.” Jessup’s dig at Perci, the mud-draka rider, brought a slight upward tick to Avo’s lips and he relaxed his fist.
Jessup asked, “What’s backheifen? That’s a new one to me.”
“It’s an olvish word. It means a face that needs punched.”
Jessup laughed. “He definitely has one of those.”
Let me know what you think… Does it work?
